I take privacy seriously: any data you share with me is treated confidentially and with respect. This privacy policy explains how I use any personal information I collect about you, both through this website and as part of running my business.
When you first come to my yoga classes, I will ask you to fill in a confidential questionnaire. From this I will collect the following information:
I use a third-party provider, MailChimp, to deliver newsletter emails. They gather statistics around email opening and clicks using industry standard technologies to help me monitor and improve my communications. For more information, please see MailChimp’s privacy notice.
My class bookings are managed by a third-party platform - Reservie. Their privacy notice can be found here. I use this platform to allocate spaces to students, and to track payment for classes. This site gathers information about bookings past, present and future.
For accounting purposes, I record payments and class attendance for students, so that I can manage business finances and pay relevant taxes.
My Google Mail account address book holds contact details for people who have provided them, and allows me to see prior communications with students.
My website uses the Google Analytics platform (privacy policy here) to collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behaviour patterns. Analytics is set to anonymise IP addresses: nothing I capture can be associated with an individual.
I use your name and medical information on a "legitimate interests" basis to allow me to provide the best possible experience of yoga practice. While students are always responsible for their own safety, I try my best to be aware of possible health issues so I can offer modifications and adjustments to meet particular circumstances where possible.
Where optional contact details have been provided, I also use them in line with "legitimate interests" to ensure the smooth running of yoga classes. This includes setting up an account on my booking platform Reservie, and communicating directly in the event of class disruption or when payment is required. Providing this information is optional, however without access to the booking system students are likely to miss out on class spaces, and may have wasted trips in the event of last-minute class cancellation.
Information captured by MailChimp and Google Analytics is used to track general behaviour patterns, so that I can monitor, evaluate and improve the material I send out or publish.
I never share any information provided to me by students with any third parties apart from those listed above, or in any way that is not directly related to providing yoga teaching.
Where students have requested to be added to a mailing list, I use provided contact details on a "consent" basis to send out communications, primarily by text message and email (either from a Google Mail account or using MailChimp). Students are free to start or stop receiving any such communications, either by directing a request at me or, in the case of emails, clicking on the MailChimp subscription preferences link at the end of each email.
It is important that the information I hold about my students is accurate and current. Please keep me informed if anything of your personal data, both contact details and medical status, changes.
You have the right to request a copy of the information that we hold about you. If you would like a copy of some or all of your personal information, please contact me for further information using the contact details at the bottom of this page. I reserve the right to make a small charge for this service, where requests become particularly arduous and complex.
You should be able to access and correct information held by MailChimp and Reservie directly: MailChimp can be accessed using a "manage my preferences" link at the bottom of each email sent through them, and Reservie can be accessed using the login details you are sent when your account on the site is created.
I want to make sure that your personal information is accurate and up to date, and will be very happy to help correct or remove information you think is inaccurate, either by me or in the above-mentioned websites.
