Ayurveda is a personalised approach to the art of living in harmony with the laws of nature and is the sister science to Yoga. Both are healing disciplines developed over 5,000 years ago in India and have always been used together.

This retreat has been carefully designed to leave you feeling the combined benefits of Ayurveda and Yoga – revitalised, refreshed and ready for the advent of the late spring and early summer months. The day will include:

  • A basic introduction to Ayurveda
  • An explanation of simple Ayurvedic seasonal self-care rituals that can be practised at home
  • A dynamic and a restorative Yoga practice aligned to Ayurvedic principles to rejuvenate and revitalise you, ready for the advent of spring and beyond
  • An Ayurvedic meal which will not only taste delicious but will help to bring you into balance with the seasons
  • A bag of self-care treats to use at home

About us

Colette trained to teach Yoga with Simon Low and the faculty of the Yoga Academy. She continues to deepen her knowledge of Ayurveda with well-respected teachers such as Tarik Dervish and will train to be an Ayurvedic Practitioner this autumn. Her approach to Yoga is to use the practice as an anchor of awareness in an ever more fragmented world, to help students stay connected to their true selves, through their bodies, minds and spirits. Her work as a Yoga retreat chef has led her to explore the benefits of diet, movement and breath as holistic tools to help us skilfully navigate life’s changes.

Ellie trained to teach Yoga with Tarik Dervish, an Ayurvedic Practitioner and Yoga Teacher aligned with the British Wheel of Yoga. Ellie continues to train with Tarik, gaining a deeper understanding of how Ayurveda and Yoga together offer relevant and practical tools to live life with a little more ease, wellbeing and joy.

To ensure a welcoming and nourishing day for all numbers are limited. To book follow this link to the event on EventBrite.

New Tuesday yoga venue: Amersham School Dance Studio

From this Tuesday onward, my 8pm yoga class is moving venue to the lovely Dance Studio at the Amersham School. The Studio is equipped with beautiful, sprung oak flooring and will provide a lovely space in which to practise yoga.

The Studio is located within the brand-new sports hall, which is found on the left as you pass through the entrance gate from the turning circle up to the school. The car park is available for your use, and to find the Studio itself just go through the glass doors on the corner of the new building; the Studio is just through the doors on the left. These locations have been annotated onto this picture from Google Maps:

The full address of the school is: Amersham School, Stanley Hill, Amersham HP7 9HH.

I look forward to seeing people there!

More than £600 raised for Cancer Research at the Flow and Glow

Side stretches in support of Cancer Research

Amersham Market Hall was the venue of yesterday evening’s thoroughly enjoyable Yoga Flow and Glow fundraiser event in support of Cancer Research. Lots of people braved the cold and rain to join Tessa, Amy-Jo and me for two hours of yoga and mulled wine. Including what we were given on the evening, we raised more than £600 in total thanks to our guests’ generosity!

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your support in making this event a success. Happy Christmas!

Finally here’s a link to the fundraising page just in case anyone feels like boosting this total! 🙂

Yoga Flow and Glow – details!

Picture of flyer for Yoga Flow and Glow, confirming date as 16th December at 5:30-7:30PM at Market Hall, Old Amersham. Contact Ellie on 07855 312033 for further detailsIt is now just a week until our Christmas Flow and Glow! Tessa, Amy and I are very much looking forward to seeing you and guiding you through a warming yoga flow followed by a sumptuous yin practice.

Here are a few useful things to know:

  • The yoga practice will start at 5.30pm and finish at 7.30pm. (There will be a loo break between the yoga sessions)
  • Please bring your own yoga mat if possible, as I only have a limited number of spare mats
  • Please also bring your favourite cosy socks, jumper and blanket ready for your yin practice and relaxation

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me; and if you find you can’t come, do let me know so I can pass your place onto someone else on the waiting list. This class is free, but we are suggesting a donation of £15 to Cancer Research. Thank you to everyone who has already made a donation; we have already raised £297.50 for this excellent cause. If you haven’t yet made a donation, you can make one on the evening or, better still, via the link below:

Sparkly candlelit Christmas yoga evening at Market Hall, Old Amersham!

I’m very excited to announce a sparkly candlelit Christmas yoga evening! I have organised this event to run at 5:30-7:30PM on 16th December, held upstairs at the Market Hall in Old Amersham. All proceeds from this event will go to support the excellent work of the Cancer Research charity. See image for details.

Monday yoga classes moving to Market Hall in Old Amersham

I’m really excited to announce that, starting from next week, 10th September, both of my Monday morning classes will be running at the Market Hall in Old Amersham. Class times are unchanged, as per my timetable.

Market Hall is the upstairs room of the market square in this picture, near the Crown hotel and round the corner from St Mary’s Church. In terms of parking, there can be spaces either by the shops or further down the road, although this can be a bit of a lottery. Alternatively, the council car park is just a couple of minutes’ walk from Market Hall.

In case you’ve never been upstairs in this building, the entrance can be seen in these two pictures: there is a doorway next to the defibrillator machine.

I look forward to welcoming you to this new venue in person soon!

New prices at Total Physiotherapy

The time has come for me to update my prices for yoga classes I run at Total Physiotherapy. Do check the details below, as there are some details you might appreciate!

History

I moved venue to teach yoga classes at Total Physio in February 2015, and at that time set prices at £9 for a one-off class and £45 for a 6-class card (with an extra class free if the 6 were used within a month). I’ve been able to hold my prices at that level since then. However, the cost of renting the room is increasing from May 2018, so I need to change my pricing accordingly.

There are two changes I am making, which I hope you will find acceptable

New Prices

One-off classes are going up from £9 to £10, and class cards are increasing from £45 to £50. The one-off price will take immediate effect, but I’m going to hold class cards at £45 until the last day of May, and will also allow people to pre-buy one extra card where they would like to do this.

Changed Terms

Consistency is important to achieving the benefits of yoga. With this in mind, I’m also extending the free extra class offer to apply to cards used within 6 weeks, rather than one month. This will open the offer up to students who come to a class every week.

The Result

Using the card, class prices increase from £7.50 to £8.33. However, for people practising yoga consistently every week, the price will actually fall to £7.14.

If our cat Archie had to buy a card, he would be happy!
